Rose information: Rose thorns, while the sharp objects along a rose stem are commonly called "thorns", they are actually prickles. Rose prickles are typically sickle-shaped hooks, which aid the rose in hanging onto other vegetation when growing over it. Rose oil, is the yellow essential oil extracted from various species of rose blossoms, and forming the chief part of attar of roses.
