Matilda L Tank picture.

Military information: In 1902 the French were the first to introduce the armoured car. Vehicle armour is sometimes improvised during conflict by vehicle crews. In World War II, U.S. tank crews welded spare strips of tank track to the hulls of their tanks. Active protection systems on military vehicles use a sensor to detect an incoming projectile and explosively launch a counter-projectile into its path.
