Military information: Sloping and curving armour can both increase its protection. The Soviet Union and Nazi Germany excelled in producing heroic images, placing their soldiers in a semi-mythical context. The propaganda war that accompanied World War II depicted the enemy in unflattering terms. The Germans developed a chlorine gas that was highly lethal, and used it at the Second Battle of Ypres, during April 1915.
